We have made it to Buenos Aires! We arrived on Saturday. It feels really great to have a 'home' for a bit. We are excited to unpack and cook some of our own meals (though from what we hear, the steak is good enough here that we may want to go out every night).
This is a huge and beautiful city from what we have seen so far. In one and a half days we really have not ventured more than a couple kilometres from our apartment but we have still been overwhelmed by how much there is to see and do. Our apartment is located in Recoleta which is a scenic, Paris-esque district with gorgeous buildings and a very safe, residential feel. We are lucky enough to have arrived right when the Jacaranda trees are all in full bloom which means purple trees line the streets.
While wandering yesterday, we ended up in the famous Recoleta cemetery. Though cemeteries are not usually at the top of my 'great places to take a stroll' list, I know we will be back to this one many times before we leave. It is breathtaking. It feels like a small city with these beautiful above ground crypts lining tiny walkways. I think it will become a favourite place to walk and to take pictures.
