Air Canada announced it's "North America Unlimited Pass" today. While I like the idea the price seems to put it out of the hands of us everyday day folk.
The unlimited pass costs $3,499.00 CAD per month. In the small print you'll read that you have to buy a minimum of two months. So the minimum purchase would really be $6,998.00 plus applicable taxes (GST). That's a lot of money. It really would only be of value to the uber business frequent flyer.

It should also be noted that -only- Air Canada flights are included in the deal and in some less popular regions, that can be a major issue.
You're absolutely right, the price is too high.

I agree that the pass has limited value for the average traveller. I've considered it several times, but after a few tries on the aircanada.com flight booker, realised that most flights or flight legs bought separately are the same price if not cheaper. For the U.S. especially, there are so many other airlines flying around that it's worth comparing prices elsewhere. Like you, I figured this pass would be good for the super-CEO for business trips, especially if the company refunds the pass.
