LAN Peru Review
What’s Good:
Clean, Great Service, Food, Modern Jets, Price
What’s Bad:
Shifting departure times, minor boarding confusion
Airline website: http://www.lan.com/

In May of 2005 six of us traveled around Peru for a period of eighteen days. We made stops in a number of cities and used LANPeru as our main transportation around the country. As we made five flights (well, actually four but one flight involved two segments) across the country we were able to get a pretty good understanding of the airline and its pros and cons.
Our flights around Peru were: Lima to Arequipa, Arequipa to Cusco, Cusco to Puerto Maldonado, Puerto Maldonado to Cusco, Cusco to Lima. We bought all of these flights via the LANPeru website a few months in advance for a very reasonable $250.00 (USD) each.
Our first positive experience was the day after we booked our tickets. An agent called from Miami to confirm the tickets then had them sent to us overnight VIA FedEx for no additional charge. This was months ahead of our planned trip.
Once at the airport and on the first flight we were very impressed with LANPeru. The planes were in great shape. They all looked new. There seemed to be twice as many staff on board as our Air Canada flight from Toronto to Lima. They served a hot meal on a 45 minute flight. The seats had more leg room than average. Our reservations were all honored. The ticket counter was fast and courteous. The planes inside were super clean, had flat screen tv’s with decent shows on them, and there were power plugs (custom airplane ones) at every seat.
After five flights throughout the country we had no complainst about the airplane, the service, or the airline in general. There were only two slightly off things. One of our flights was bumped up by one hour without warning. Luckily we were at the airport early enough to take advantage of this. The other issue had more to do with us than the airline. Tickets had boarding sections printed on them. For instance, one of our tickets had a big J printed on it. This indicated what group we would be boarding with. This confused us the first two times but then we caught on.
Overall LANPeru was a very enjoyable airline and we would not hesitate to use it again.
